This site has just been deployed to the internet. It will soon have as much information about the Rochester MN International Airport (KRST) as we can find. Currently we have a streaming audio server where you can listen to
RST Approach/Departure Control
RST Tower Control (Referrred to as "Local" to controllers)
RST Ground Control
Serveral Minneapolis Center (KZMP) RCO's (Remote Communication Outlets)
- Due to antenna location, KZMP's transmissions are normally NOT heard, but we can hear the aircraft on the KZMP frequencies

1 - ASR = "Airport Surveliance Radar" Approach. Vectors
(headings) are given by the Approach Controller, for an instrument approach.
2 - "No-Gyro" Approach. An approach where the 2 of 3 gyroscopic instruments
in the cockpit have failed, and the controller issues "start turn"
and "stop turn" instructions to the pilot. In this way the radar controller
vectors the pilot for an instrument approach.
3 - "Clearance Delivery" is where aircraft departing an airport are
given instrument clearances, and expected procedures to leave the airport and
local airport area.
4 - ATIS "Automatic Terminal Information System" is a recording that
is made by controllers every hour, or as airport and/or weather criteria dictate.
5 - Personal Note: I HATED flying NDB approaches - especially one like Rochester's
that is off the field. But now that it is going the way of the "Radio Range Stations"
I sort of miss it.
